Projects for 2022 and 2023
My recent and upcoming pubs focus on the "sexuality gap" in political activism. Some of these studies explore the links of sexual identities to voting preferences, political protesting, and supporting Black Lives Matter protests. All of these studies explore the ways educational attainment, exposure to discriminatory events, group memberships and political frames are related greater liberalism among sexual minorities. An example of these pubs are:
Swank, Eric, and Breanne Fahs. 2022. “Sexual Identities and Reactions to Black Lives Matter." Sexuality Research & Social Policy 19, 1954–1967.
I have also started a line of audit studies. These studies document the ways female and queer auditors are treated in restaurants and religious settings. The first of these pubs are:
Swank, Eric, and Fahs, Breanne. 2022. “I’ll Take the Check! A Longitudinal Replication Analysis of Gender Biases in Bill placement from Restaurant Servers." Journal of Gender Studies, 31, 3: 377-389.
Fahs, Breanne and Swank, Eric. 2021. “Pray the Gay Will Stay? Church Shopping and Religious Gatekeeping around Homosexuality in an Audit Study of Christian Church Officials.” Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity, 8, 1: 106–118.
